Maria was chasing a feeling ever since she got her first job in fashion. Inspired by her father, an entrepreneur in hand-made leather accessories and a great eye for aesthetic, Maria learned the art of workmanship and detail behind each piece manufactured as well as the ropes of running a successful business.
She started her career as a Business Consultant in Ernst&Young where she gained vast global business experience. She knew she was destined for the fashion world, this drove her to get her MBA in luxury fashion and retail. She was then recruited by Inditex where she gained a 360-degree view of the company throughout various departments: planning and allocations, sourcing, product manager and buying/merchandising.
Maria grew up in a multi-cultural environment living between Europe and United States. Having most of her professional experience in Europe, she decided it was time to enrich her knowledge and gain additional experience working for an American company. In 2012 she joined Guess where she had a successful career with rapid growth within the company, becoming a GMM for women’s apparel in Guess and Marciano.
In her leadership role, she was responsible for setting the product line plan vision and leading the line planning process. By collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, she ensured that merchandising strategies aligned with the brand's overall objectives. Through meticulous market analysis and consumer insights, Maria identified emerging trends and implemented product assortments that strongly resonated with the target audience.
Maria’s keen eye for retail trends and ability to identify new product development opportunities have contributed to curating exceptional collections while optimizing SKU efficiencies, fostering growth, and maximizing profitability. Furthermore, her strong collaboration with design leadership has allowed her to bring creative visions to life.
